Upon graduation, recipients will be required to teach secondary education in an area or Arkansas where there is a shortage of teachers for a period of five years, and will receive twenty percent forgiveness on their loan for each year they teach.

Law Enforcement Officers Dependents Scholarship

Other Comments: Scholarships are available to dependents or spouses of Arkansas residents who were killed or totally disabled as a result of their law-enforcement duties. Children or spouses of individuals who previously worked in the following areas qualify:
- Law enforcement officers
- Full-time or volunteer firefighters
- Municipal police officers
- Sheriffs or deputy sheriffs
- Constables
- Game Wardens
- Certain Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department employees
- State forestry employees engaged in fighting forest fires

MIA/KIA Dependents Scholarship

Other Comments: Funds are available each year to residents of Arkansas who scored in the top 10 on the GED exam in the year they are applying. Students must meet progress requirements to stay eligible.
Contact: Students do not apply for this scholarship. Instead those students with the top ten best scores on the Arkansas High School Diploma test during the previous calendar year are contacted directly by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.

Military Dependents Scholarship

Other Comments: This award gives financial aid to undergrads pursuing a bachelor’s degree or certificate of completion at any public college, university or technical school in Arkansas who qualify as a spouse or dependent child of an Arkansas resident who has been declared to be missing in action, killed in action, a prisoner of war, or killed on ordnance delivery, or a veteran who has been declared to be 100% totally and permanently disabled during, or as a result of, active military service. If awarded, the student must be enrolled full-time as defined by the institution, complete 24 semester credit hours per academic year, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale towards a degree or certificate of completion.
