Achievements And Abilities Scholarship (Deadline: July 31, 2017)

Who Can Apply:

  • Be a U.S citizen or permanent resident
  • Scholarship is not available to present or future clients of Michigan Cerebral Palsy Attorneys.
  • Applicant must:
    • Be seeking or in the process of completing higher education (either as an undergraduate or graduate student)
    • Have cerebral palsy or have a family member with cerebral palsy
  • Have a GPA of at least 3.0
  • *Local Michigan applicants preferred


  • A completed application
  • A certified copy of the student’s academic records
  • Evidence of diagnosis from doctor or medical center (if applicable)
  • The Project: One (1) of the following:
    • An essay not exceeding two typed, single-spaced pages describing the applicant’s relation to cerebral palsy. Examples of topics may include how cerebral palsy has impacted the applicant or their immediate family, or how cerebral palsy and/or disabilities have affected the applicant’s life in another way.
    • A different creative project describing the above. Examples can include, but are not limited to:
      • Photo projects
      • Video or other multimedia presentations
      • Creative writing
      • Performance pieces
  • A short explanation of what they plan to do with the scholarship funds. Examples may include:
    • Use of scholarship funds for tuition in higher education (for high school seniors accepted into college, undergraduate applicants and graduate applicants)
    • For applicants who plan to apply the funds to non-tuition purposes such as other academic pursuits (such as camps, enrichment courses, or other programs) or personal projects (such as the development of new technology, charity projects, etc.):
      • Applicant must clearly outline the following:
        • Purpose of project
        • Demonstrable benefit of project
        • A clear step-by-step execution plan
