CalCPA Fresno Chapter 2018 Scholarship (Deadline: July 16, 2018)

Who Can Apply: 

Eligibility:
Student will be transferring to one of the following schools:
• California State University, Fresno
• Fresno Pacific University
Or continuing in one of the following schools:
• State Center Community Colleges: Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, Madera Center, or Oakhurst Center
• Porterville Community College
• West Hills College
• College of the Sequoias

• If transferring, student is required to show proof of acceptance to either school (CSUF or FPU) with the intent to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting;

• Must have a 3.0 or above grade point average;

• Must submit official or unofficial copy of transcripts. If transferring, the student must have completed Accounting 1A or its equivalent, and have completed 60 units. If continuing at a Junior College, student must have completed 24 units;

• Applicants must be members of CalCPA. Student membership is free. Join at www.calcpa.org/join

• Applicants may not have applied for a concurrent CalCPA scholarship from another chapter

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States

Submission: 

• Two letters of recommendation: At least one from a faculty member and one from an employer or local business person regarding the applicant’s character (honesty, integrity, leadership capabilities, motivation and ability to accept responsibilities, etc.), intellectual ability and communication skills, and desire to become a CPA

• A written essay of 500 words or less utilizing the theme: “Describe why you have an interest in an accounting career. Describe your career goals.”

• A signed declaration attesting to eligibility
