Who Can Apply: The Sacramento Region Community Foundation (Foundation) is awarding need-based scholarships through the Capital Area Promise (CAP) Scholars program, which aims to increase college completion rates among local students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. This opportunity is available to graduating high school seniors planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree who have participated in the CAP Scholars program. Scholarship award may be used for cost of attendance.
- Be a graduating senior from an eligible high school in Sacramento County who received individual college advising from Cal-SOAP, Improve Your Tommorrow or AVID through the CAP Scholars program
- Planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrate financial need (preference will go to students whose expected family contribution EFC is less than $10,000)
- Be enrolled full time in at least 12 academic units or equivalent per quarter/semester in the fall
Submission: Essay: Describe the most significant challenge you have faced. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement? What will you do to be successful in achieving your goals in college? (minimum 200 words; maximum 500 words)
