Who Can Apply: The Catherine M. Newman Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Catherine (Cathy) Marie Newman with the objective of helping scholars who have demonstrated a passion for learning, hard work, and giving back to the community, but who may also need financial assistance to bring the dream of a college degree to fruition. Your application for this scholarship honors Cathy Newman’s memory and we appreciate your interest.

  • U.S. Citizen, legal resident or DACA student.
  • Graduating high school senior or current college student with less than 48 credits completed.
  • Enrolled, or planning to enroll, full-time at ASU, NAU or the UA.
  • 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Financial need as verified by the Student Aid Report from the FAFSA application.
  • Preference for students majoring in sciences or writing (including math, engineering and journalism).
  • Preference for students committed to community service.
