Chadick Family Scholarship Fund (Deadline: April 30, 2015)

Who Can Apply: Scholarships awarded to graduating high school seniors in Wood or Franklin counties in Texas. Applicants must have at least 2.75 GPA and 1500 SAT.

Submission: Please select a topic of interest to you touching on the history of Wood or Franklin Counties and submit a 500-word essay. Topics can range from early settlers, Texas Independence, statehood, secession and civil war, introduction of railroads, agricultural economy, great depression, oil boom, or changes in quality of life for East Texans during the 1900’s due to trucks and automobiles, electricity or changes in farming practices, to name a few. Please document your reference material sources; if you conduct an oral interview with a long-time resident who has experienced some of these historic changes, please document the interview for reference.

Deadline: April 30, 2015

Amount: up to $4,000
