Who Can Apply: In order to participate, applicants must be currently enrolled in or planning to attend an accredited United States college or university during the 2017-2018 academic year.

Submission: To participate in the contest, applicants should write a 500-word essay answering the following question:

“Sports are an important part of life for many young people, with more than 7.8 million students participating in high school sports during the 2015-2016 school year. Unfortunately, a substantial number of student athletes are hurt each year while playing school sponsored sports. Under what circumstances schools be held liable for sports-related injuries? Why?”
