The Foundation for Rural Service Scholarship (Deadline: March 1, 2017)

Who Can Apply: The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) offers an annual college scholarship program to help further higher education among rural youth. FRS awards a one-time $2,500 scholarships to students from rural America for their first year of college, university or vocational-technical school. Each student is sponsored by an NTCA member company. FRS funds $2,000 of each scholarship, and the sponsoring company awards the remaining $500. The FRS College Scholarship Program seeks to encourage students to return to their rural communities upon completing their education.

Submission: Prepare a 300-word essay on one of the following topics:

1. Describe your most significant accomplishment, and explain why you believe it to be your most outstanding.
2. Describe the community in which you live, and indicate how it has influenced the person you are.
3. What industry or opportunity would entice you to return to a rural community after completing your education, and why?
