Who Can Apply:
- Pursuing higher education is a valuable investment into one’s future, but it is often an expensive, overwhelming experience.
- Leaving behind one’s classmates, family, and hometown in exchange for a new city, new peers, and challenging coursework is an intimidating process, compounded by the financial burden presented by college.
- Gloria was everyone’s friend and supported many causes during her life. She supported environmental issues, as she resided on Chesapeake Bay, and she supported efforts for clean water and a healthy environment. She was not an artist but had a great appreciation for many forms of art and talent. She also dearly loved her grandmother, who was a WWI nurse, deployed to France, and she later worked in veteran hospitals postwar.
- This scholarship aims to honor the memory of Gloria Rickett by supporting students who are preparing to begin college.
- Any high school senior who is a Maryland resident with at least a 3.5 GPA interested in environmental sciences, nursing, or the arts may apply for this scholarship.
