Guy and Elizabeth Andrews Scholarship (Deadline: October 15, 2019)

Submitted by

Who Can Apply: In 1983, Guy and Elizabeth Andrews established a permanently endowed scholarship program for students in Bradford and Alachua counties. Instilled with a life long respect for higher education and determined that young people be given the opportunity to attend college regardless of economic status, the Andrews Scholarship will provide financial assistant to hundreds of students. “Helping people become taxpayers and not tax recipients is what,” Guy Andrews felt “educating ought to be about.”

Guy Andrews was born and raised west of Starke in a small community of New River. It has been a life long goal of the Andrews family that higher education be available to everyone. This dream became a reality with the opening of the Santa Fe College Andrews Center in 1985. Sensing a need for a permanent facility in Bradford County, Guy Andrews was instrumental in involving the entire community in fundraising efforts to renovate the Bradford County Courthouse into a college facility. According to Guy and Elizabeth Andrews “Education instills community pride, is an inspiration to everyone, and gives people an opportunity to serve – on and on and on.”
