Joseph Onwuteaka Scholarship (Deadline: September 1, 2016)

Who Can Apply: If you are interested in this $400 academic scholarship, please meet these standards:

  • You must be a US citizen or a US permanent resident.
  • You are from 17 to 50 years of age.
  • You should have a high GPA and generally strong academic record.
  • You are or will be a part or full time college student.
  • You use Facebook and email.

Submission: All applicants for the Joseph Onwuteaka scholarship need to write a 1,000 to 3,000 word essay on one of these topics:

  • If there were only one slot available for your desired college, why should the university choose you?
  • Who are you?
  • What accomplishments have you had in the last year that had nothing to do with academics?
  • What is the most important quotation that describes your outlook on life?
  • If you could read the minds of other people, would you choose to use the power and how?
  • How do you think where you grew up influenced who you are today?
