Who Can Apply: The Kieren McErlain Williams Memorial Scholarship was established in 2010 in memory of a young man who loved science and nature. His warmth, wisdom and wit created a magnetic force and he lived for goodness, kindness, humor and love. Candidates should possess and display a true sense of social justice. Interest in the areas of science, natural resource management or psychology is preferred.
Candidates with learning challenges will be given special consideration. Learning challenges are defined as difficulties students face in school such as anxiety and stress, social anxiety, depression and loneliness, and feeling marginalized by others. Class rank and GPA are not considered in the selection process.
- Graduating senior at Sunnyslope High School, Phoenix, AZ.
- Intention to attend a 2-year, 4-year, or technical/vocational school in the upcoming school year.
- Preference given to students interested in science, natural resource management or psychology.
- Candidates with learning challenges as outlined above will be given special consideration. If applicable, submit one reference (two are required for a complete application) from a teacher or school staff member that can validate your learning challenge. The learning challenge does not have to be diagnosed by a medical professional.
