Mary Katherine “Katy” Williamson Memorial Scholarship (Deadline: March 1, 2018)

Who Can Apply: Mary Katherine “Katy” Williamson Memorial Scholarship benefits individuals pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in the following: Emergency Medical Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Pre-Veterinarian Medicine, Veterinarian Technician, Nursing Assistant, Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing. The award is for either part-time or full-time enrolled students to attend any accredited institution of higher learning in Alabama. The award is renewable annually for four years providing that the recipient continues to maintain the standards of these Guidelines. The award is further renewable annually for up to four years of graduate school education providing that the recipient continues to maintain the standards of these Guidelines.

Submission: An essay is required with the application. The applicants are asked to identify and describe in detail their most significant character trait(s) and to site examples of the/these attribute(s). The applicants should also address how the scholarship will benefit them in life based on their aspirations, educational and career goals. Also, include one extra-curricular activity or volunteer project and how it has contributed to your career goals or personal development. Significant weight will be given to essays that provide: (1) examples of community service; and, (2) illustrate the applicant’s motivation, drive or determination. The applicant should conclude the statement with the main reason why the committee should award him/her the scholarship.
