Who Can Apply: This scholarship was established in memory and in honor of Matthew E. Fiora. Matthew was killed in a motorcycle accident September 6, 2016 while riding near his home in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was 54 years old and had two children, Matthew was raised in Middletown, Ohio and graduated from Middletown High School, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and (later in life) Miami University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. He found his calling as an ICU nurse within the Jewish Hospital system.
He was loved by his patients and co-workers. In addition to nursing, Matthew’s other passions included photography and music. He was a very talented photographer. The family has established this scholarship to assist students in the greater Middletown and Cincinnati area to obtain their baccalaureate nursing degree at any accredited nursing school.
Applicants will be older students, residing in the greater Middletown and Cincinnati area who wish to make a career change and who have financial need. They must show drive and dedication and be prepared for the challenges that come from returning to school at a later age. They also must demonstrate that they have every intention of working in the field of nursing. Funds may be used for tuition, fees and books toward a BSN. It shall be awarded to one student.
