Michigan Injury Lawyers Scholarship (Deadline: October 20, 2016)

Who Can Apply: In order to participate in the competition, an applicant must either be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university or be planning to enroll for the fall 2016 semester.

Submission: In order to apply, applicants must write a 500-word essay on the following topic:

“The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that there were some 424,000 people injured in accidents involving distracted drivers during 2013. Distracted driving has become a serious public health issue, in no small part due to the popularity of smart phones and other personal Internet-enabled devices in recent years. Michigan joined fourteen states and Washington D.C. when it made texting or emailing when driving a car illegal. Do you think this type of legislation reduces the risk of accidents attributable to distracted driving? Why or why not?”
