Submission: To apply for the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing Scholarship, please respond to the following essay prompt in 1000 words or less:

Historically, foundations for buildings and other structures have a long history of being made with wood, padstones, and dry stone. More modern foundation types are often built with footings and monopile foundations. Please choose from one of the following historical structures to write an essay on the creation of it that includes a timeframe, cultural background, workforce involved, materials used, etc:

    1. Washington Monument (United States)
    2. Machu Picchu (Peru)
    3. Colosseum (Italy)
