Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Scholarship (Deadline: April 1, 2019)

Who Can Apply: 

– Reside within one of the eight New York State counties covered by the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation: Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Westchester and Ulster.
– Must plan to attend an accredited college university or trade school.
– Have been affected by breast cancer in some way.
– Have participated in Breast Cancer related activities.
– Students meeting the Miles of Hope scholarship criteria may be considered for the Dana Mintz Effron Scholarship award.

– Students meeting the Miles of Hope scholarship criteria and who plan to pursue a healthcare related field of study may be considered for the Betty Howard Scholarship award.
– Students meeting the Miles of Hope scholarship criteria may also be considered for the Michael Benecke Scholarship award.
– Students meeting the Miles of Hope scholarship criteria and who plan to pursue an arts related field of study may be considered for the Betty Benecke Scholarship award.

Submission: 

– Essay describing how their lives have been changed by breast cancer (limit to one page or 500 words).
– Most recent high school transcript.
– Resume and/or list of extracurricular activities.
– Copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information, which you will receive when you complete and submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
– Two current letters of recommendation from teachers/guidance counselor, clergy or persons other than family members who are familiar with your skills and abilities. These letters must have been written within the last six months.
