Description: The MissionSquare Retirement Memorial Scholarship Fund honors education, health care, not-for-profit, public safety, and other local and state government employees who have fallen in the line of duty while in service to their communities. Established in 2001, the fund has raised over $1.6 million and has awarded more than 600 scholarships to surviving children and spouses of fallen public sector employees from across the nation.
Who Can Apply: Applicants must be surviving children or spouses of those employees and be high school seniors, undergraduates, or graduate students planning to enroll full time at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year.
Award amounts (maximum of $10,000) are determined based on merit and financial need, and they cannot exceed the cost of tuition and fees. The number of awards varies annually.
