Who Can Apply: Longtime Midland resident Bill Wallace established the Permian Basin Scholarship for Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering for undergraduate students at the University of Texas at Austin, Cockrell School of Engineering. Open to students in Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering; applicants must reside in one of the following counties: Andrews, Borden, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward or Winkler.
This scholarship is awarded on the following criteria:
• capacity to succeed in academics,
• acceptance to the University of Texas at Austin, Cockrell School of Engineering,
• interest in pursuing a professional career in the field of petroleum or mechanical engineering,
• demonstrates commitment to Christian principles and lifestyle.
Submission: To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must submit a short essay not to exceed 500 words that addresses the question: What prompted you to choose the petroleum or mechanical engineering field?
