Rodney Britton Scholarship Fund by Howard and Maxine Cook (Deadline: February 15, 2017)

Who Can Apply:

  • Be a graduate in good standing of a public Montgomery County High School, Montgomery County, Indiana  by the end of June of the year in which the application is filed
  • Be a resident of Montgomery County, Indiana
  • Be pursuing a degree in the mechanical or industrial field
  • Be accepted into and attend an accredited two-or four–year vocational or technical school
  • Must have completed a minimum of seven (7) semesters or ten (10) trimesters by the application deadline to be eligible to apply for the Rodney Britton Scholarship
  • You are not eligible to apply for the Britton Scholarship if you have an immediate family member who has in the past three years served as a member of the Board of Directors, Scholarship Committee, or Staff of the Montgomery County Community Foundation. Immediate family includes one’s spouse, parents and grandparents, children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, mother-in-law and father-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law. Adopted, half, and step members are also included in immediate family.

Submission: In addition to the standard essay questions, be prepared to answer the following (300 word maximum): “Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma – anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.”
