Who Can Apply: The MSTI Scholarship’s aim is to encourage talented Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) majors and professionals to become single subject teachers. Each MSTI Scholar receives a maximum of two years of scholarship support of up to $5,000 per year. MSTI Scholars are required to obtain their teaching credential at Cal Poly Pomona.
Submission: Write a 500 to 1,000 word essay describing how you came to the decision to pursue a secondary teaching career in Science or Mathematics; your personal and professional qualifications; your commitment to working in a “high-needs” school; what you hope to gain by becoming an MSTI Scholar, and how this award would affect your plans both academically and employment-related for the coming year. You may also discuss any socioeconomic difficulties, disability, or other challenges you face.
