Who Can Apply: The Jeff Block Memorial Scholarship program was established in 1988 by family and friends in his memory. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a graduate of Buchholz High School in pursuit of an education at Santa Fe College.
Jeffrey Block died June 23, 1987, after a four-year battle with cancer. His life began and ended in Gainesville, Florida. His strong determination to succeed, although constantly being undermined by the debilitating effects of this dreaded disease, enabled him to graduate and receive his diploma from Buchholz High School. He immediately enrolled at Santa Fe College but, after only a period of weeks, he was unable to continue to fulfill his dream of achieving a college education.
Jeff became an inspiration to all who came in contact with him. His uplifting support of others in more desirable circumstances than his own, created a phenomenal following of friends. Jeff will never be forgotten.
