The Patrick Kelley Band Scholarship (Deadline: March 15, 2020)

July 31, 2019 By The FinancialAidFinder Scholarship Team

Who Can Apply: The Patrick Kelley Band Scholarship was established in 2013 in memory of Patrick by his friends and family. Patrick tragically lost his life in a horrible automobile accident on December 20, 2011, his 18th birthday. Patrick was an extraordinary young man who excelled musically, socially and academically and was very active in all aspects of life at Gainesville High School.

He was a member of the Debate Team, the Academic Bowl, the Key Club, and the National Honor Society. As a junior, Patrick took part in the Governors Honors Program for Gifted and Talented Students, and he was also a participant in the Greater Hall County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program. Patrick was actively involved in the Grace Episcopal Church youth group and was an avid Boy Scout eventually earning his Eagle Scout rank. In 2010, Patrick was named champion of the Jackson EMC Energy Bowl.

Patrick played euphonium in both the marching and concert bands and held many leadership positions within the band, including Band President, Student Leader, and two-time Brass Section Leader. Patrick was selected into the GMEA District IX Honor Band and All-State Bands four years in a row – one year playing in both the All-State Orchestra and the All-State Band.

This scholarship seeks to recognize students who share Patrick’s love and commitment to the Gainesville High School band program. One $1,000 scholarship is available each year to a senior Gainesville High School band or auxiliary member who has made significant contributions to the Gainesville High School Band. Applicants should have a minimum 2.5 GPA; however, in the presence of other overwhelming accomplishments in music and civic leadership, applicants with a GPA less than 2.5 may also be considered.

Deadline: March 15, 2020

Amount: $1,000
