Who Can Apply: The goal of the Walter Scott, Jr. Pathway Scholarship Program is to support Career and Technical Education students along an educational pathway leading to high-skill, high-demand, high-wage careers in their local community.
Potential scholarship recipients are recent high school graduates (up to 21 years old at the time of application) pursuing a career in an approved program of study, requiring a two-year degree or less. The approved programs of study fall under the Construction and Industrial, Transportation, and Utility Line academic pathways on the MCC website.
Scholarship recipients must be willing to actively participate in the following:
- Specialized student success programming
- Enrichment opportunities to support learning outside of the classroom
- Career development activities
- Regular meetings with an assigned Scott Pathway Coordinator
- Paid sponsorship, internship, apprenticeship, or employment in a program-related field
Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated career interest and program alignment, proven resiliency and work ethic, and financial need as determined by the FAFSA. However, financial need is not required.
Recipients will receive up to a $10,000 scholarship over two years for the cost of attendance that may include tuition, fees, books, tools, transportation, and living expenses. The scholarship amount is calculated based on the number of credit hours enrolled in per quarter.
The scholarship is automatically renewable based on maintaining adequate progress toward degree completion within two years, active participation in specialized programming, and maintaining good academic standing.
