West Plains Council on the Arts Scholarship (Deadline: April 15, 2017)

Who Can Apply: West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA), in cooperation with the Gatewood Family, has established a scholarship to encourage students of the highest caliber to enter a career in the fine arts, with special emphasis on arts education.  This $500 scholarship will be awarded to an area high school senior (graduating 2017) enrolled in a post-secondary program, majoring in fine arts (music or art, performance or education).   Education majors will receive higher consideration.  Applicant must be a student in Howell or Ozark County.


1. Copy of high school transcript
2. Essay OR Audition tape/CD/DVD – If an essay, must be 500 words or less on one of the following topics:
a. Will traditional art and/or music survive in the modern   world?    Why?
b. Who or what inspires you?
c. Should art and music receive equal consideration in secondary education?
d. How I support the arts.
3. You may include a résumé detailing extracurricular activities, volunteer activities, community service, and jobs held during the past four years.
