Who Can Apply: This is a generous need-based renewable scholarship. Selected recipients will be awarded up to $10,000: $5,000 during the recipient’s junior year and if eligible for renewal, the recipient will be awarded up to $5,000 during the senior year.
- Must have a minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA on the 4.0 scale.
- Must file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year.
- Must have a demonstrated unmet financial need, verified by the student’s college or university’s financial aid office.
- Must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate college junior at any accredited four-year HBCU (Historically Black College or University).
- Must pursue a degree in any one of the following majors:
- Advertising
- Business Administration
- Communications
- Education
- History
- Journalism
- Marketing
- Public Relations
- Visual Arts
- Filmmaking
- Preference will be give to First-Generation College Students
Submission:
- Applicants must submit via UNCF’s online scholarship application portal. All parts of the application must be completed and submitted by the deadline.
- A full copy if the applicant’s 2023-2024 Student Aid Report (FAFSA SAR) must be submitted.
- Essay – Applicants must submit a one-page personal statement online, regarding the student’s career interests and extracurricular Activities .
- A 60 second video that reflects the applicant’s thinking around change in society & the importance of preserving and contemporary images of HBCUs.
