Who Can Apply:
- To apply you must be an African American/Black student admitted to or enrolled as a full-time college freshman at an accredited U.S. located, four-year PBI or HBCU in the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or show completion of a GED.
- All applicants must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a demonstrated unmet financial need as verified by their college or university.
- Preference will be given to Pell Grant eligible students and/or students with a focus in technology, health, or teaching professions.
Submission:
- Possess a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale or show completion of a GED.
- Complete a FAFSA form
- Submit an online application;
- A one-page essay (a statement of career interests)
- A resume of activities and leadership;
- A recent academic transcript and/or official GED record;
- A letter of recommendation (LOR)
- The recommender cannot be a family member.
- The individual recommender chosen by the student should be an educator, academic advisor/counselor, employment supervisor, or a community leader with whom the student interacts.
- The letter should provide key details about the interactions between the recommender and the applicant, and should highlight the applicant’s personality, work habits, and skills.
