Who Can Apply: In honor of Harvey Gantt and Hugh McColl, UNCF established the Gantt-McColl Scholarship Fund to provide financial assistance in an annually renewable, need-based scholarship to students who are permanent residents of North Carolina to get to and through college.
· A permanent resident of North Carolina (NC).
· A high school senior projected to graduate from an eligible public high school in Mecklenburg County, NC.
· Possess a minimum cumulative weighted grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
· Plan to enroll in any U.S.-located, accredited, four-year college or university in any major.
· Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with a demonstrated unmet financial need.
Submission:
· A completed UNCF online program application.
· A current high school transcript.
· A 500-word personal essay describing your future goals, aspirations, and how receiving this scholarship will benefit you.
· A copy of the student’s complete (all pages) FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) may be requested during the screening process.
· A copy of the student’s (intended college or university) admission letter.
· A copy of the student’s (intended college or university) financial aid offer.
· A letter of recommendation
