Who Can Apply: The Jack and Jill of America Foundation is committed to the positive development of African American youth and future leaders. Through providing programs focused on financial literacy, education, mentoring, health and wellness, and early childhood development, the Foundation promotes the preparation of succeeding generations of African American leaders.
- Be an African American US citizen or US permanent resident.
- Be currently classified as an undergraduate student who will be enrolled as an incoming college sophomore, junior, or senior for the 2025-2026 academic year at any US-located accredited 4-year institution.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Be able to certify, through a supervisor’s recommendation, the completion of a minimum of 60 hours of active community service between June 2024-June 2025.
- Note: Community Service refers to all unpaid volunteer and service projects/activities you have participated in within your community, and do not have to be conducted through your college or university.
- Have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the 2025-2026 academic year, and have a demonstrated unmet financial aid need, which will be verified to UNCF by the applicant’s institution.
Submission:
- A current official or unofficial academic transcript.
- List 2 – 5 examples of how the applicant demonstrated leadership within the last 12 months.
- List 2 – 5 examples of community service that the applicant has participated in within the last 12 months totaling a minimum of 60 hours.
- A 1-page essay responding to the following prompt: In 350-600 words, discuss the lessons you have learned while participating in volunteer and service projects in your community during the last 12 months, and discuss how these experiences will prepare you for your future career.
- One (1) Reference Form submitted by a teacher, administrator, or community leader who supervised one or more of the applicant’s service projects.
