Who Can Apply: The Nevada-UNCF Scholarship Program was established to financially support African American students from Nevada who have enrolled in a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) for the 2025-26 academic year.
- Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Be a permanent resident of the metropolitan Las Vegas region in the state of Nevada
- Be a class of 2025 high school graduate who has been accepted into any HBCU for the Fall 2025 semester
- Be African American
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Have demonstrated unmet financial need as verified by your college or university
Submission:
- Applicants must submit via UNCF’s online scholarship application portal by April 4, 2025. All parts of the application must be completed and submitted by the deadline
- One Letter of Recommendation (LOR). The recommender must not be a family member / relative. The LOR must be made through the UNCF online Application System and must be received by the application due date.
- Essay – How has your experience growing up in Nevada shaped your college and career goals (500-750 words)
- A recent official or unofficial academic transcript
- A copy of the student aid index chart from the 2025-2026 FAFSA
- A letter of acceptance from your college or university
- Your financial aid award letter from your college or university
