Who Can Apply: In partnership with UNCF, the Ochsner Clinic Foundation has developed the UNCF/Ochsner HBCU Healthcare Scholarship Program to identify and provide scholarships to support the degree attainment of high-achieving students attending Dillard University or Xavier University of Louisiana who intend to pursue careers in medicine, nursing, mental health, social work, or physical therapy, and who have expressed an intent to live and work in Louisiana upon degree or certification attainment.
- Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or a Permanent Resident
- Be a rising junior or senior during the 2025-26 academic year, in good academic and personal standing, enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking student at a UNCF member HBCU in Louisiana (Dillard University or Xavier University of Louisiana)
- Have a declared major aligned with a career in medicine, nursing, social work, physical therapy, or mental health with a demonstrated commitment to pursuing an advanced degree in a clinical profession; and
- Must express an intent to live and work in Louisiana upon degree or advanced certification attainment.
Submission: Students shall submit an online application for the program, complete with a current transcript and a one-page personal statement responding to the following prompts, “Please tell us about your career interest(s) after completing your undergraduate degree. What is your plan to achieve that goal? When you complete your education, where would you like to live and how do you plan to use your education to contribute to your community?”
