Who Can Apply: The Thoracic Surgery Training Fellowship provides an international training and educational experience for young thoracic surgeons from mainland China to spend a focused period of three months studying clinical techniques at a host training site in North America. This award is designed to help defray related travel and living expenses incurred at the North American host training site.
- A candidate must be a resident of mainland China.
- A candidate shall have completed his/her formal training in thoracic surgery and be in the initial 3 years of his/her staff position.
- Candidates must have a current academic or hospital appointment.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Candidate must meet all the necessary criteria (license, visa, etc.) for travel to and from host training site.
Submission:
- Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae with a full description of their surgical experience.
- Letter of support from their department chair or division chief.
- Proposed travel itinerary.
- One to two page narrative to include:
- What you hope to accomplish during the Fellowship (including length of stay and area of interest).
- How you will utilize the skills you have learned at your home institution.
- The relationship of the planned study to your prior work, preparation and professional goals.
- Statement of your future career goals.
