Who Can Apply:
- VT Engage: The Center for Leadership and Service Learning is excited to request applications for the Austin Michelle Cloyd Social Justice Scholarship. The Austin Michelle Cloyd Social Justice Scholarship provides financial assistance to exceptional undergraduate and graduate Virginia Tech students to offset the costs of social justice-focused leadership building extra curricular activities that may not otherwise be accessible for students due to financial limitations.
- The range of acceptable activities for scholarship application include, but are not limited to, internships, study abroad programs, alternative breaks, co-ops, apprenticeships, fellowships, service-learning, and undergraduate research. Scholars are selected based on their commitment to social justice, demonstrated activism and leadership capabilities. Past Cloyd Scholars have made strides in serving marginalized groups while furthering their awareness of the wider world and strengthening their potential for compassionate leadership.
Submission:
- Please describe your endeavors related to social justice, other than academic coursework.
- Please describe the opportunity you are planning to use the funds from this scholarship for and explain how this opportunity is related to social justice and/or your educational activities.
- Please provide an estimate of the total amount of funds you are requesting along with an itemized list of costs associated with the opportunity you are pursuing. In short, please create a simple budget of how you would use these funds to support your experience. To view an example, please hover over the help text. Reminder: you cannot use these funds for tuition, therefore, please do not add this into your budget proposal.
- Please provide contact information for the best point of contact for the program you are intending to use the funds through. Example: Study abroad faculty lead, name, phone number, email. If this information is not provided, you will not be considered for the scholarship.
