Who Can Apply:
- Young Hawaiians often face obstacles when growing up and making the transition from children to independent adults.
- The high cost of living in Hawaii can make it difficult for young adults just starting out in their careers to cover their expenses, especially as tourism leads to increased housing prices and strains the resources left for locals. Geographic isolation can also limit job opportunities, pushing many students to leave the state in order to further their careers, which furthers the cycle.
- This scholarship aims to support young residents of Hawaii by encouraging them to attend college, establish meaningful careers, and one day fund scholarships of their own.
- Any high school senior at Aiea High School or Pearl City High School in Hawaii may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they plan to attend the University of Hawaii. However, applicants who are underrepresented minorities are preferred.
