- Single mothers often face many hurdles but rarely receive the helping hand they need. The responsibilities of parenthood often lead single moms to prioritize the immediate needs of their children, frequently leading moms to forego their own dreams of higher education. The time, money, and care required to raise a child often leave parents with little energy left for themselves.
- This scholarship aims to honor Gloria Johnson and the struggles she overcame by supporting other single mothers and encouraging them to go after their goals.
- Any female, African American high school senior or undergraduate student who is a resident of Florida may apply for this scholarship opportunity. However, applicants who are single mothers and those studying engineering or education are preferred.
