Who Can Apply:
- Many young students are unfortunately too familiar with the hardship associated with the unexpected loss of a parent or guardian.
- Losing a parent at a tender age can completely change the trajectory of a child or teenager’s life. In addition to the emotional turmoil of parental loss, a student’s financial situation may be irrevocably altered. They may experience housing instability, limited adult attention, or even foster care, especially if their deceased guardian had been a single parent.
- This multi-year scholarship aims to create a network that supports students who are grieving during a pivotal time in their lives.
- Any incoming undergraduate student who will be a freshman in Fall 2027 and has lost a parent or guardian before this time may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they are a resident of Monroe County, Alabama with at least a 2.5 GPA.
