Who Can Apply: Students in the hybrid MSW program who are Abbott Fund scholars will receive a scholarship and complete a sub-specialization in diabetes care and management within the health care specialization of the hybrid MSW program.
- This sub-specialization is designed for students interested in pursuing health social work career focused on diabetes prevention, education, and management in Stockton.
- Abbott Fund scholars in the hybrid MSW program will complete a workshop series, an elective course, a capstone project and a 31-week field placement in diabetes care and management.
- Applicants who are awarded the Abbott Scholarship are ineligible to receive the HealthForce Partners; however, students can apply for both.
Submission:
- Please describe your volunteer or community service experiences in the Stockton community.
- Please describe your paid work experience in human services in Stockton.
- Please describe your ties to Stockton, not already described in your answers to the above questions.
- Please describe the reasons for your interest in becoming a social worker specializing in diabetes.
- Please describe how you intend to serve or work in Stockton for two years and provide care to underserved populations upon obtaining your MSW with a sub-specialization in diabetes.
