Who Can Apply:
- The AnQuan Lee Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of AnQuan Lee Palmer, who was tragically taken by gun violence in December 2017 at just 16 years old.
- In his short but impactful life, AnQuan found solace and joy in music. Creating songs became his escape, a way to express his emotions and process the challenges he faced growing up in East St. Louis. His immense talent and passion for music touched the hearts of his family, who cherished the songs he created. AnQuan’s radiant personality brought laughter and joy to everyone around him, and his love for his family was evident in every smile he shared.
- This scholarship celebrates AnQuan’s legacy by supporting high school seniors who share his deep love for music and the performing arts. It is designed for students who see music as more than just a pastime but as a meaningful outlet and a foundation for self-expression. By supporting young artists and musicians, the AnQuan Lee Memorial Scholarship aims to keep AnQuan’s vibrant spirit alive and inspire others to use their gifts to uplift themselves and their communities.
- Any low-income BIPOC high school senior in Illinois with a 2.5 min. GPA and who is passionate about music may apply for this scholarship. It is not necessary to be pursuing an education in music, but those who are are encouraged to apply.
Submission: To apply, students are encouraged to share their personal stories, dreams, and how they plan to make an impactful difference in their communities. Creativity and authenticity are key—let your heart speak through your words.
