Who Can Apply:
- This scholarship will be awarded in memory of Detective Augustin Gonzalez. He was a police officer and then rose to rank of detective in his 20 year career. He was a hero when he served at the World Trade Center during the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01 and spent his time there helping others.
- Police officers are brave individuals who dedicate their careers to the betterment of their communities, often making personal sacrifices in order to better serve their neighbors.
- Police officers have to work in challenging situations on a daily basis. Though this work can be extremely rewarding, it does come with some risks, including injury and even death. It takes a motivated and passionate person to be an effective and reliable police officer and the most effective officers are those who serve with empathy and resilience.
- This scholarship seeks to support students who plan to pursue higher education in order to become police officers.
- Any high school, undergraduate, or graduate student who is pursuing law enforcement may apply for this scholarship opportunity.
