Who Can Apply:
- Carlos E. Reid was a beloved father who passed away 25 years ago. He was a proud Panamanian whose smile would brighten and liven up everyone when he entered the room.
- Carlos worked as a bellhop and doorman at a Sheraton hotel throughout his life and had a love for music. Carlos would have wanted to leave behind a legacy of helping disadvantaged students pursue their dreams by attending college.
- In order to enhance and enlighten student’s lives, educational growth and passion for music or the arts, this scholarship aims to support students with financial need who are the children of service industry workers in honor Carlos E. Reid.
- Any first-generation and low-income high school or undergraduate student who is the child of a service industry worker (waiter, hotel employee, etc.), has at least a 3.0 GPA, and majoring in the Arts may apply for this scholarship.
Submission: To apply, tell us about the significance of being a first generation student as well as the child of a service worker. Tell us how your family has made sacrifices for your education and why are you are pursuing a career in Music or the Arts.
