Who Can Apply: The Catherine M. Newman Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Catherine (Cathy) Marie Newman with the objective of helping scholars who have demonstrated a passion for learning, hard work, and giving back to the community, but who may also need financial assistance to bring the dream of a college degree to fruition.
– U.S. Citizen, legal resident or DACA student
– Graduating high school senior or current college student with less than 48 credits completed
– Enrolled, or planning to enroll, full-time at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona
– 3.0 GPA or above
– Financial need as verified by the Student Aid Report from the FAFSA application
– One submitted letter of recommendation is required
– Preference for students majoring in sciences or writing (including math, engineering and journalism)
– Preference for students committed to community service
