Who Can Apply: These $1,500 scholarships are in memory of Joan Barsotti, a beloved Placerville community member for 34 years. Joan was an avid storyteller and loved to hear other peoples’ stories, whether they be fact or fiction, whether they be a poem, short story or essay. While the scholarship requires a personal writing sample, it does not require a specific field of study.
The scholarship recognizes students who have the ability to articulate a story. At least two scholarships are awarded, one to an AVID student and one to a non-AVID student at El Dorado High School. The scholarships provide $500 freshman year and $1,000 sophomore year upon proof of enrollment.
