Flashback…Back in 2010 the Chronicle of Higher Education reported that Seton Hall University planned to give everyone of its 2,100 full-time students a free iPad in the fall. Incoming freshmen will also get a 13-inch MacBook laptop. The program, offered in coordination with the university’s Griffin Technology Advantage program, was making the entire campus completely wireless, quadrupling bandwidth and training faculty members in advanced technologies. Students were asked to pay an additional $500/semester to cover the Tech Advantage program — although the university said the iPads were a bonus from the school, and not coming out of fees.
Other universities that gave out the iPad and/or Apple MacBook included George Fox University, which announced that incoming freshmen could pick one of these two options.
