Who Can Apply: The Gustavo Godoy Scholarship for Excellence in Journalism is available to Journalism students, benefitting Spanish-speaking students in Florida International University’s Journalism + Media program.
- Journalism + Media degree seeking student
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Submit a 500 word essay
Students must be US Citizens, Permanent Resident or International Students on an F1 visa to be eligible
Submission: In a 500-words essay, please respond to the following questions:

- Beyond your language proficiency, what personal experiences, cultural understanding, or specific skills do you possess that you believe would significantly contribute to the field of Spanish-language journalism and make you a strong candidate for this scholarship?
- Explain the importance of ethical journalism in today’s society and how you plan to uphold these values in Spanish-Language media.
- What are you career aspirations in journalism, and how do you plan to achieve them?
