- Hakim Mendez spent over 20 years as an educator, impacting the lives of countless students.
- He was a man of many passions, with a great love for his family, friends, and community. He lived his life exploring the things he was interested in and cared about, making the most of every day. As a way to continue Hakim’s legacy, the Hakim Mendez Scholarship will support the next generation of BIPOC leaders.
- High school and undergraduate BIPOC students are eligible to apply if they attend or are planning to attend a historically black college or university (HBCU) and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students with a record of community service are strongly preferred.
Submission: To apply, write about why you’ve chosen to pursue higher education and how this scholarship will help you fulfill your future goals.
