Who Can Apply:
- The Hatcher–Dollarson Legacy Scholarship honors a powerful multigenerational tradition of service, education, and community uplift. Paying homage to Ernestine Hatcher-Dollarson and Alice Hatcher—sisters, Albany State University alumnae, and lifelong educators—this scholarship celebrates a family rooted deeply in helping professions.
- From classrooms to counseling rooms, from ministry to community work, the Hatcher–Dollarson family has produced generations of servant leaders dedicated to lifting others. This scholarship continues that legacy by supporting students who share the same commitment to service, compassion, and community impact.
- Founded by Y’ticcia Dollarson-Williams, daughter of Ernestine and niece of Alice Hatcher, and an ASU Social Work alumna, the scholarship reflects her family’s belief that education is a pathway to empowerment and generational change. Through her work as Founder of Dollarson’s Den Counseling & Consulting, LLC, Y’ticcia carries forward the values instilled by the family who shaped her: integrity, empathy, resilience, and a heart for helping others.
- This scholarship seeks to support students pursuing education, social work, counseling, human services, or other helping professions, especially those who demonstrate leadership, community involvement, and a desire to serve.
- Any undergraduate or graduate student at Albany State University may apply for this scholarship opportunity. However, applicants majoring in education or social work are preferred, as are students from Albany or Lee County, Georgia, or South Carolina. Applicants who demonstrate a commitment to community service, mentoring, or youth support are also preferred.
