Who Can Apply:
- Jeanne Murphy was a beloved mother and an incredibly compassionate person whose generosity and sacrifices truly made a difference.
- Jeanne was a lifelong Lutheran, giving back to her local church in a variety of ways. She always donated to underfunded schools, she was an animal rescue volunteer, and she worked in special needs education for over thirty years. Each Christmas, Jeanne would host a Christmas party for her adult, special needs students who had no family connections, allowing her family to become theirs for the day. She spent the last years of her life becoming a caregiver to her husband as he battled pancreatic cancer. Her compassion knew no bounds, and she shared it with friends, family, and strangers alike.
- This scholarship seeks to honor the life of Jeanne Murphy by supporting students who transform their compassion into action and intend to continue doing so.
- Any low-income, Christian, high school senior in California, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, New Mexico or New York who has volunteering experience may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they will pursue a two or four-year undergraduate degree program.
