Who Can Apply:
- Growing up in a single-parent household presents unique challenges, both for the parent and the children.
- Having only one parent to go to growing up can be difficult, especially if that parent is working multiple jobs in order to provide for the family. While navigating this dynamic can be difficult, it can also build resilience, determination, and strength, which will be useful for the rest of one’s life.
- This scholarship aims to honor the life of Marie J. Lamerique by supporting students who grew up in single-parent households.
- Any Black male high school senior or undergraduate student who grew up in a single-parent household may apply for this scholarship opportunity, but applicants who are first-generation college students are strongly encouraged to apply.
