Who Can Apply: High school juniors and seniors and community college students living in the six-county area (Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, Ontario and Wayne counties) may apply. Students must be able to attend all five, full-day sessions on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus. Due to the lack of diversity in journalism, special emphasis will be placed on recruiting students of color.
Submission:
- A letter indicating why you are interested in the Diversity in Multimedia Journalism Intensive. Be sure to include your full name, address, phone number, email, name of school and anticipated graduation date. Please let us know if you anticipate needing assistance with transportation to RIT; this information will not be used in the decision making process.
- A typed 150 to 200 word essay explaining how you have been personally impacted by an area of diversity such as race, ethnicity, culture, gender, etc.
- A letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher, coach or community leader who is not related to the applicant.
