1. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Competition: $1,000 – 15,000
This competition is an example of the Elks’ commitment to community and charity. High school seniors can apply locally through their state at any Elks lodge (or online), and are evaluated based on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. State winners move on up to the nationals, where they can win up to $15,000 for their college education. Pretty sweet deal. See website for deadline.
2. National Rifle Association (NRA) Civil Rights Defense Fund Essay Contest: $1,000
Got writing skills, and celebrate the second amendment? This contest is open to elementary , junior, and high school students. Students must turn in a 1,000 word essay on the theme: “The Second Amendment to the Constitution: Why it is Important to our Nation.” See website for deadline.
3. Comcast Leaders and Achievers Award: $1,000
Are you a role model amongst your fellow students? Comcast wants to give you a little gift of encouragement. High school seniors are nominated for this grant through their principal or guidance counselor.
